Would you believe me if I said that there is a formula to having a guilt free holiday?
Well there is!
If you are one of our nutrition clients, you have a spreadsheet that shows just how close you are to hitting your prescribed macros. The goal is to be within +/- 5 of your prescribed protein, carbs, and fats. If you do that, you hit that macro/day. Anything +/- 6 would be a miss macro/day.
Every week you have 21 (3 per day x 7 days in a week) chances to have a hit.
Every month you have 90 chances to have a hit.
Here is where the simple math and flash back to school days come back in.
When a holiday comes up, and you go off your numbers. IT IS OK! As long as you took advantage of hitting all the days prior.
Let’s look at this as a monthly grade scale.
If you hit 87 out of 90 day that would equal a 96%. Would you proud of that grade if it was a high school test? HECK YA!
What about a weekly grade:
18 hits out of 21 is 85%. That is still a B. But now you can see how it is important to not let that day bleed into the next and bounce right back, or else that grade could easily slip to a D.
Moral of the story…Don’t stress the holidays or birthday, but plan what days you want to go off wisely, make sure that you are not booking too many of those days in one month, and be diligent on the other days so that you can enjoy those special days without any stress.
